Health, Safety, and Nutrition
Tips

Below is a list of some health, safety, and nutrition tips from Missouri Accreditation:

Understanding how illness is spread, helps infant-toddler, early childhood and school-age environments prevent the spread of illness. When program staff use universal precautions, including handwashing, cleaning and disinfecting, and proper disposal of waste, this all helps prevent the spread of illness.  Good hygiene helps protect everyone.

The early childhood environment must be set up so that staff can supervise children at all times. When activities are grouped together and furniture is at waist height or shorter for toddlers, adults are always able to see and hear the children. Small spaces are kept clutter-free and big spaces are set up so that children have clear play spaces that staff can observe.

Do not use any type of structures for quiet areas that do not allow children to be seen and supervised from all angles in the room. If a structure blocks the vision of staff when child is inside it is not a good fit for good supervision.
